Ok, I am having problems running games. Games like Half Life 2, Far Cry, After the games have played for so long, the system crashes and reboots. I dont get any error messages after the reboot. My CPU is running at 34C, which means that overheating isnt likely to be the issues. Does anyone have any suggestions. I bought the video card at Best Buy and had it returned and replaced and the issue still remains.

Does anyone have any ideas, no matter how obvious they may sound? There has to be someone who can tell me something constructive.

Thanks. I really want to be able to use my brand new system that I just bought to play games at high rez and fps

Well, if you want a reply of the obvious, then consider this: it sounds a lot like an overheating issue, which you suspected, but just don't confine your investigation to the video card and CPU. Heat can do tricky things. First step is to make sure that all the fans are operating and the heatsinks aren't clogged with dust. Check that your RAM is plugged in solidly. Then try to find a way to check temperatures around the system when the system isn't playing a game and has only been on a fairly short time (5-10 minutes). That will give you an idea of what temps SHOULD be.

Then turn on the games and watch for areas to heat up. You may find a problem in places you haven't looked, like the power supply or the CD/DVD drive.

If all that fails, then you have to start swapping things in and out with known-good components.

Good luck!

i would check your Event Viewer and see if there is any info. Usually your computer will do a memory dump before reboot.
