games crash after reboot unless i reinstall GPU drivers

So, for a while now (I can't pinpoint when it started happening because I assumed it was just needing new driver for a long time) some games (mostly ubisoft as far as I can tell but definitely happened with other games too), will crash on start up after a reboot until I reinstall driver and DON't reboot when it tells me too. I have been putting up with this problem but recently it's been more annoying than ever!

system specs:
MSI GTX 980ti
Intel 6700k
asus z170a motherboard
16GB hyper x ram
samsung 850 evo 1TB SSD

Did you try a clean Windows setup with new drivers to make sure it's not a software issue? If anything is overclocked set to stock speeds. Did you try different versions of the drivers? Test the video card in another system or another card in yours? What is the brand/model of the power supply?

I can't remember the make of the power supply, but I didn't cheap out on it, it's 80 plus gold. I have no way of testing the GPU in another system or putting a different GPU in and it has happened over multiple drivers, and I have done clean install of driver but not tried windows, I don't really want to have to do a clean install of windows but i suppose it's the only way to rule it out.
