Hi all,

My PC is :
3700x
5700xt
16gb 3600mhz
monitor Asus VG248QZ 24inch 144hz.

When i set the monitor on 144hz and play some games - I feel like if the game drops below 144 fps (to like 100/120/130) it doesnt feel smooth anymore feels like its on 60/59 fps..
But when i set the monitor to 60hz and get the same fps (100-144) everything feels good like it should.

what is the issue here ? is 144hz monitors only for pc's that can always get steady 144 fps ?

Some thoughts on this issue will be appreciated.

Thanks.

Are you actually tracking the FPS? Actual FPS would be more useful than what it feels like it's dropping to.

You won't hit 144 FPS on everything simply because things just don't scale like that. Some specific games to go along with the specific framerates would be helpful.

You may need to set V-sync for what FPS you're hitting. Having a 144 Hz refresh rate and hitting, say, 110 FPS instead can be a bit of an issue, which is why you see adaptive V-sync in things like G-Sync and FreeSync.
The VG248QZ is a defective model, and skips frames at 144 Hz.

Something just feels off man..
144hz - 143-120 fps feels weird
60hz - 120fps feels good

I will replace this monitor to see if Im right about this.
