Hi , I was thinking about getting a Pentium G3260 (I didn't choose the G3258 because I don't wanna overclock) and I heard that Far Cry 4 doesn't run on a dual core any more, is there any other games that don't run on a dual core any more? Should I even get a dual core?
Would the Athlon X4 760K/860K be a good choice instead?
Thanks in advance

So far the only two games that flat out don't run on Pentiums are Far Cry 4, for which there is a mod to force it to run, and Dragon Age Inquisition. Be advised while other titles will launch, they won't perform well on a Pentium, especially one with no overclock. Newer games really do need more than 2 cores and 2 threads, the G3258 can partially brute force its way through the problem with the sheer speed of its cores when overclocked, but still will run into stutters on newer titles.

If you plan on having this CPU long term, and you aren't using the Pentium as a placeholder until you can scrape together funds for an i5 or i7 on the same socket, I would recommend a different CPU. Saving up a bit longer to get a Core i3 is one option...

Saving up a bit longer to get a Core i3 is one option, hyperthreading does help its 2 cores keep up with current titles. The other option would be to get the Athlon X4 860k, which does have 4 cores, but said cores are much slower than Intel's, and there is no upgrade path whatsoever, the 860k is the best CPU you will ever see on the FM2+ socket and any upgrade would require a new motherboard as well.
