My build(just over a year old):

  • i5 6500 (stock cooler)
    16gb RAM DDR4 2133MHZ
    r9 380x
    240gb SSD & 1tb HDD
    1080p monitor
In some of my games i have noticed a difference in FPS from when I first played them and lower fps then I should be getting. Two examples are: Battlefield 1, a game which I reinstalled recently and before I ran it on ultra averaging 50 fps and after I have reinstalled it after a couple of months it is now barely 30 fps on low, and Doom, Single player is on the highest probably averaging 50 fps but multiplayer is around 30 fps on the lowest settings (I think when I first got it I was running single player at 60 fps but I am not so sure about that one.)
I have updated video drivers and i am not sure why this is.
Any answers would be appreciated, thanks!

Something like a hyper Evo 212 or a cryorig h7 are both cheap and should keep it in the 60s at worst. (Assuming your airflow isn't trash).

First of all, i wasn't running Doom at low, now in multiplayer i average around 45 fps but that is still bad. and my temps:
CPU max temp: 72 C
GPU max temp: 74 C
(This is whilst playing Doom on lowest)

I checked and it is plugged into the GPU, but (I cant remember exactly but minimum amount of time ago 4 months probably more than that) i knocked over my PC on the opposite side of the motherboard so the force on the GPU would of been trying to pull it out of the socket. My PC did shutdown but i restarted it and it seemed to be ok. Could this of affected it and if so what would be damaged the graphics card or the socket on the Motherboard.

For some reason Battlefield 1 is now running at ultra at unstable 60 fps, however my CPU reached 80 C. I know that this temperature isnt good for the CPU so i was wondering about a CPU cooler. I dont want to invest in a water cooler but how much of an impact on temperature will a regular cooler have?
