I tried playing metaphone fantazio when it came out, but i stopped after a point where you have to do a lot of side quests all at once and you're kind of limited to what you can do (by time in the day and other stuff). It's a fun game, but idl making dialouge discissions and didn't feel like using a walkthrough, i only use walkthroughs for game series i really like that somewhat require it (final fantasy, and after beating/end game of other games, and some that have missables, but hate when games have missable items tbh)

I would love to play a game similar to My Life As A King Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, but can't find something similar enough. I beat dragon quest builders 2, idt i need to beat 1.

Kind of tired of racing games, nfs was my favorite, but not really much else to do in those games, same with cods. I will be getting Borderlands 4, but doesn't come out until september.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 my brother said it's good, but i haven't even played final fantasy rebirth since i don't really feel like playing a serious/game i have to take seriously, i like voluntarily taking a game serious here and there rn, want something laid back like MLaaK FFCC, but also somewhat of a challenge, has stats, possibly ability points. Simpsons Hit & Run is another type of game that makes me think fun, challenging, and doesn't feel too repetitive.

I gotten tons of free games from Epic games launcher that i have not touched, i've gotten everything from probably after the yr gta v was free since i already had it for xbox, i didn't care to get it and didn't know epic does it every week.

Any and all game suggestions would be appreciated. Looking for both single player and multiplayer games, but i guess mostly single player. I play pm every genre except sims, minecraft, among us type of games, but i'll play a game if it has some of their qualities in the game, just hate when dressing, exploring, and socializing is the only focus of the game. So sims, no man's sky, and r.e.p.o/lethal company are the type of games i pretty much never play. Every other games, i typically play. Also, fighting games aren't as fun after you beat everyone.

Some of my top games i've played to maybe give you an idea of games i like that i would love to play if they were new (don't really like playing games over again and beat some multiple times or over did everything in these games): mario galaxy (no interest in playing astro bot, and don't have a ps5), zelda tofk, perfect dark (n64), dk country 64, south park game n64, my life as a king, gta san andrea/vice city, any jrpg (not a fire emblem style rn), Nier Automata, Dragon quest xi (only dq main game i've played, waiting for 12 to get a release date), tower defense games (think the ffcc ones were my favorite), etc.

I stopped playing genshin impact, i don't like the gacha and feel like i'm so far behind, played the first 2 months it came out, i also hate the resin, makes it feel like a job.

I also have a switch 2 with mario kart world, just have not opened it yet because i don't like the EULA and they're having a legal battle about it rn, thanks Brazil.

I'm even willing to play some old games, whatever comes to mind, i played all types of games both ps5 god of wars, kingdom hearts series, etc. just need to maybe broaden my horizon (don't think i'd want to play that either lol).

Thanks for any suggestions.

Baldur's Gate 3 is good as well as some of the earlier games in the same genre.

Cyberpunk is pretty much GTA but a lot better looking.

If you are into first person shooters I would recommend both of the Division/Clancy titles.

If you liked older Diablo, then Grim Dawn is really good.

You might like some of the new Star Wars themed titles.

If you do still like racing games then the Forza series are pretty good, however they are a port and so far as I know only one of them (the newest - 5?) is still active as a multi play. I also REALLY liked the NFS titles but think only a few of the newer ones of those are supported. I sort of lost track after HEAT because it was so broken on PC for a while.

I have been waffling on the new Indiana Jones game but figure it is going to be too similar to Tomb Raider.

All in all, good luck. I feel pretty much the same way and have not really felt compelled to pull the trigger and spend good money on anything coming out right now. Even with Indiana, I may just wait till it goes cheap on a good sale. I have done a lot like you where I pick up free titles that interest me when free but then seldom play them, if at all. I think the latest free game series I got that I really like is the Wolfenstein series and it is super fun, however, something about the way it displays is like a motion sickness inducing for me, so I had to stop. The series with the party guy as president (it won't come to me now) was also really fun for a freebie.

I don't know what you're most in the mood for since you're mentioning quite a lot of a different genres, so I'll recommend a few titles that instantly come to mind and match your criteria.

- Undertale: a must if you haven't played it yet despite the hype. A funny and clever game made by an JRPG fan for JRPG fans

- Sleeping Dogs: GTA clone in a charming Hong Kong settings

- Saints Row 3-4: other goofier GTA clones which were given away on Epic. While they're not really my cup of tea, they seem to have a devoted fanbase. Watch Dogs 1 and 2 were also given away.

IMHO their are 2 problems with games at the moment.

1. when was the last time you saw a game and said ..... nobody has made a game like that before... maybe games companies are running out of ideas

2. clones ...... i will give 2 examples .... all of a sudden we have loads of games that look like valheim and since satisfactory started getting industry recognition for all their hard work their has been a huge increase in construction themed games.

Their is also something else that gamers suffer from ........ its not as good as xyz syndrome.

Take myself for example ... i have been using satisfactory for about 3 years but i do other things when waiting for new content.... i currently have 4,700 hours on satisfactory and i want more of the same type of game but every time i go looking i end up saying ... not as good as .

Development of video games and content updates are quite slow since covid19. Big tech took advantage of that by laying off developers to ensure profit maximized while quality slightly dropped.

People I know or close to me returned to the retro games on VMs, even buying them from places like Goodwill just to have some fun, people are desperate to have some quality entertainment only because movies,TV shows and games suck since covid19.

Some people also got tired of Ubisoft type of games, is a publisher/dev that ruined their own most beloved serie, known as Assassins Creed. People who created the idea got forcefully "removed" from the studio and French CEO turned the series in to fortnite looking game.

Set up a VM, get some retro games and play it there. Consoles can run retro games but not Windows 10/11. Microsoft is too busy begging me to choose Microsoft Edge to set as default browser which I will never do.

Games are the same, people change! Just wrapped up BG3 and Elden Ring. I loved Dark Souls and BG1/2 back in the day. My new lifestyle made BG3 much less enjoyable, but Elden Ring rocked! I don’t have time anymore. I need to be able to dive in for 30 minutes at a time and understand what I’m doing and make progress. I probably missed most of the story with BG3. I am in Metaphor right now and kind of feel the same. Missing so much from an immersion perspective but I will finish.

Also looking at Expedition 33 but worried about needing the time. I might go to AoE now since I remember loving the old ones. Not sure it fits lifestyle anymore.

Hey! Sounds like you have a really broad taste and a good sense of what you enjoy, which is great. Since you liked My Life As A King for its laid-back yet somewhat challenging gameplay with stats and progression, here are a few suggestions that might hit that sweet spot:

Stardew Valley — It’s relaxing but has enough depth with farming, stats, skills, and quests. The pacing is flexible, so you won’t feel rushed, and there’s a good balance of challenge and chill.

Slime Rancher — Laid-back exploration and resource management with cute aesthetics. Not heavy on story but engaging enough.

South Park: The Stick of Truth or The Fractured But Whole — Since you liked the old South Park N64 game, these RPGs capture that humor and have solid turn-based combat.

Dragon Quest Builders 2 is great, but if you want a similar vibe, maybe try Terraria for exploration, crafting, and combat with RPG elements.

Octopath Traveler (Switch) — It’s turn-based JRPG with deep characters and stats but a less serious tone than typical JRPGs.

The Outer Worlds — If you want a more story-driven RPG that’s a bit lighter and humorous.

Torchlight II or Diablo III — Action RPGs with loot, stats, and abilities. Fun and less grindy than some others.

Castle Crashers - Fun, challenging, and multiplayer-friendly beat 'em up.

For tower defense, since you liked FFCC’s version, maybe check out Orcs Must Die! or Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare for a more active twist on the genre.

If you want to broaden your horizons but avoid games focused mainly on socializing or dressing up, these should give you a good mix of gameplay, challenge, and fun without too much grinding or time pressure.

Hope this helps!

There are some JRPGs on your list; have you ever dipped your toes into the Legend of Heroes games? If one catches your fancy, they'll certainly keep you busy: the 13th game in what is one overarching story arc comes out in NA in January.

Maybe you just need a break from gaming. I'm going through this right now. I want to play games but I get bored after playing for 5 minutes.
