So recently I decided to purchase an HP Omen, it seemed to run fine out of the box, albeit a little slow and would fps drop when gaming. So I decided to go and factory reset it, and it seemed to fix the fps dropping issues I had with the games I was playing. That is, until I decided to restart the laptop. I forgot to mention, after my fresh factory reset, I began loading the laptop up with all my games and software and then started testing all my games (everything ran very smoothly). After the restart, my games would take longer to load. When I finally finish loading, I would get fps drops every so often. I've tried factory restoring several times, downloaded the latest Intel and Nvidia drivers, but I still keep getting the same issue.

Specs:

15.6-inch Full HD display
Intel Core i7-4710HQ
8GB memory
256GB SSD
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M graphics 2GB DDR3
Windows 8.1 64-bit

Oh and the game I was playing was Maplestory, so it wasn't really pushing my gpu or cpu very hard

If anyone could help I'd greatly appreciate it!

Solution
go into power options and ensure your plan is not on power saving. Put it on high performance.

Also, when you're playing these games is your laptop off of the charger? Laptops will lower performance when off the charger and you'll have less fps.
