hey guys, i just bought an xbox one controller and the wireless adapter for windows 10. im finding a decent amount of my games with 360 controller support don't work with the xbone pad. either the game doesn't see it at all like sonic racing transformed, or the game is totally screwed up like assassins creed 2 with the camera constantly spinning.

shouldn't all these games work with the xbox one controller as if it were a 360 controller? im finding my ps4 controller is having almost better compatibility when using the DS4windows program emulating the 360 pad, i feel like that shouldn't be the case. im on windows 10 btw.

thanks!

Sounds like the games aren't recognizing the pad properly; the spinning camera problem is due to the differences between DirectInput (the old Input API) and XInput (The one the 360/XB1 uses) and is a common problem for older, non-360 gamepads. The fact the XB1 pad is having this problem would make me think that the XB1 pad or latest version of XInput isn't installed on your PC, though I'd imagine all that would have been done automatically the first time you plugged the pad in. Maybe the fact it's wireless instead of wired resulted in the requisite drivers not being automatically downloaded.

thanks for the response gamerk316. the first thing i did when i got the xbox 1 controller was plug it into my pc via usb to see if it needed to download anything. since im on windows 10 there was nothing to download, the drivers were already on my computer. when i go into devices and printers the controller shows up as "controller" when plugged into the cable. if i right click and go to controller settings it says "xbox one controller for windows" and when i go into properties it says it has XINPUT drivers from 10-29-2015. everything seems to check out but i still cant get some games to work.

the funny thing is the games that didnt work with my ds4 emulating a 360 pad ( ultra street fighter 4, resident evil 4) now work great with the xbox one controller, but older games like the prince of persia sands of time trilogy or ass creed 2 don't work. its like i have to keep both controllers in rotation to play all my games lulz!

if anyone has anything else to share please do!

edit- most of my games work with the xbox 1 controller btw, ass creed brotherhood and revelations work great with the xbone controller even though ac2 doesn't, i was just surprised that all of them don't work considering the xbox 1 controller is natively supported in the os.

Might just be older games doing something stupid, like looking for a 360 pad and never assuming other pads could be mapped the same.

Worst case, using x360ce or some other program to emulate a 360 pad should work, even if it is a clunky solution.

thanks for your help gamerk316, i might just live with the 2 controller set up for now, maybe something will get patched in the future for the xbone pad and windows 10.

now if only microsoft would bring halo collection to pc...................!!!!!!!!!!!!!111111111111one1
