Games randomly freeze

Hi, i recently finished a new build

specs:
- Ryzen 1700 OC'ed to 3.75ghz
- Asus x370 pro
- corsair dominator 16gb OC'ed to 2933mhz
- nvidia gt610 (temporary, got a 580 on order)

anyways, the problem is that when i play the few games my gt610 can run, they just freeze randomly and all i see is the last rendered frame while i hear the last half second of audio over and over. Sometimes the game just keeps running but i can only see the 1 last frame while i can hear my inputs working ingame. Leaving me with the only option of opening task manager and forcing the game to stop and restart it again.

My son experienced similar problems when his computer overheated. (The factory overclocked R9 280 generates a lot of heat and the case didn't have that good ventilation.)
My solution was to improve the case cooling.

My cpu is usually at about 40 degrees Celsius and my GPU.. Well it's a gt 610. So overheating is probably not the problem, but it may just be because of the shitty GPU, my 580 should arrive in about a week and a half so until then it'd be nice to have a fix but it's not a really big deal
