Games requiring 4 physical cores

Hi,

So I'm building a budget gaming pc, and have settled on the i3 6100 or 6320,

Now these are 2 physical cores with hyperthreading.

So my question is, are there any games that require 4 physical cores to run, or do you think the industry is heading that way?

Cheers

There are no games out there that require 4 physical cores. We have been hearing for years upon years how multi core processors are going to be important for gaming. Except they are not and there is no proof otherwise.

The 6100 and 6320 are both excellent choices, you will be fine building a budget system based on them.

Well, that's not true... software can tell easily... http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1542213/how-to-find-the-number-of-cpu-cores-via-net-c for example.

BUT, never seen a software that would actually stop and shown "buy more-core cpu".

Usual games are pretty much more or less single core . Where I see increasing more-core utilization is online gaming (for example last patch of Black Desert Online is capable of running my i5-2500K at over 70% overall cpu load (which basically means at least 3 pretty much utilized cores). I'd expect Dx12 games will be able to utilize more cores much better too, but there I have no hard evidence to support it. For normal games, Dx11, your i3 choice should be more than fine and you won't be losing any noticable frames compared to high end i7 counterpars... And if one day i3 starts being bottleneck you can just replace cpu with a new one. I don't expect it to be anytime soon though.
