Games seem to freeze when I press a key.

When I boot up a game, such as Fallout 4 or Overwatch they crash or freeze as soon as I press a key. Normally when I move the mouse around I'm completely fine, but as soon as I press any key the game freezes and normally crashes. I recently built a new PC and I've stress tested all of my parts for several hours and nothing seems wrong with the hardware. Sometimes when I boot up my computer (or restart) I can run the game flawlessly, but as soon as I close the program I cannot run any games. On top of that whenever I have the issue with the games, my Chrome browser will become unresponsive too. Without attempting to run the games Chrome runs fine, it only crashes after I have issues running a game. I doubt this issue is with the game itself because if one game doesn't work the other won't either, but if one game works the others will too... until I close out of the game. Any help would be really appreciated because I've tried almost everything I can think of and I'm not sure what to do at this point, thanks for your time.

Edit 1: I forgot to mention that I don't receive any errors, the games just freeze and then become unresponsive. Also my temps are average/low and nothing is under full load when normally running these games. The Task Manager also seems to crash after I start having issues with games. It works fine before I have an issue running one of the games, but becomes unresponsive afterwards, much like Google Chrome, and can only be fixed via rebooting. The audio running for the games and Chrome keeps going as if there were no issues. Different games have different outcomes. For instance Overwatch will crash almost instantly, Fallout 4 will seemingly freeze and then I can move around with very, very low frames, and League of Legends will lag constantly, the frames are normally good, but the game feels like I'm running very low frames.

So I had the exact same problem and I just figured mine out. I had CAM software (cooling monitoring software that came with my NZXT Kraken liquid cooler and when I had it installed, I would have your problem. When I uninstalled it, my games work fine. Maybe your problem is due to a similar type software. Because now, after researching into it a little more, I have found out that there have been multiple instances where CAM software has frozen people's gaming experiences. Good luck, hope this helps.

Hi, I just built my first computer and my specs are very similar to yours and I am currently having the same exact problem! I feel as though I have tried everything and nothing seems to work. If you do figure out this problem, please let me know! As I will do the same!

Good luck!

I actually use CAM too. I downloaded it because I liked the look of it. It crossed my mind once that it might be the issue, but I wasn't sure how it could be. Apparently it's an issue with the in game overlay. After deleting it and doing a fresh reboot everything works flawlessly. Thank you so much, I've been really confused about the issue. I was almost ready to give up and live with it. Thanks again :)

Seriously thank you so much. I have been wondering for weeks what was going on. I have a K70 RGB and messaged Corsair about it and no solution. Even worse I just updated to Win 10 so I thought it could be that. Glad to see it was CAM the whole time. Both Overwatch and Battlefield 4 were causing issues.

Again thank you so much.

I'm so glad I found this. Your issue mentioned above is EXACTLY whats happening to my system currently almost a year later. I'm going to try the fix with the CAM software when I get home from work!

Unreal... I've been having this problem for a little over a week. Uninstalled CAM and Heroes of the Storm works no problem.

Thank you so much!
