[SOLVED] Games/Software randomly freeze and crashes ?

Hey, Since couple weeks I've encountered a huge issue affiliated with many software I'm running on.

So the problem looks like the application is turning black-screen / completely frozen, after couple minutes there's gonna be a couple frames/sound is gonna be back on but program is "dead" and need's to be taken down from task manager.
In Event Viewer all crash is with an Error indicator.
Main types of suspensions are:
  • Top level window is idle.
  • Unable to recover from a kernel exception.
  • Unknown
and random dumps.

I've also saw, that this problem also encountered on Linux (second system).
When Idle, everything works fine, but when it's gonna be under pressure of software or anything, the system is gonna freeze. Like completely, nothing responds at all.

I've tried to reinstall software that was causing problems, updating/downgrading/reinstalling drivers to each component from device manager.
The temperatures of CPU/GPU are not exceeding 60 degree celcius while temp of mother board never went above 40~ degree celcius.
It's not hard drive (probably, I've thought about this for a while because I started encountering some BSOD screens, so I've replaced it with new one). But Issue still remain unresolved.

I really count on ideas/help. If I missed something I'll answer on all questions/to provide more details.

My Specs are:

  • CPU: I7-2600K, Working at 3.8-3.9 GHz due to flexible overclocking from motherboard's settings.
  • Ram: Patriot Viper 3, 1866MHz with latency CL9, 2x 8 gb (IEM edition)
  • GPU: ASUS Geforce GTX 770
  • Motherboard: Asus Maximus IV Extreme-Z
  • PSU: cooler master b600 v2
  • HDD: WD BLUE 1TB 7200 rpm

Solution
bios updated? ram okay?

I feel its not likely to be gpu.

could try running Prime 95, since it freezes in both windows and linux I doubt it matters if we boot it off the USB as it will crash anyway. Try running it in windows first I guess

motherboard - no tests. Only way to see if its mb is confirm everything else works, or take PC to a store and ask them to test all your gear, its a process of elimination.

and random dumps.
what random dumps?

Are you getting any bsod?
Can you follow option one on the following link - here - and then do this step below: Small memory dumps - Have Windows Create a Small Memory Dump (Minidump) on BSOD - that creates a file in c windows/minidump after the next BSOD

  1. copy that file to documents
  2. upload the copy from documents to a file sharing web site,
  3. and share the link in your thread so we can help fix the problem

Are you getting any bsod?

Sometimes, I'll list them

win32kbase.sys
CRITICAL_STRUCTURE_CORRUPTION
SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

I'll provide small memory dump next time they will occur (previously had only full dump)

what random dumps?

I think I messed up, I think I've meant binary data, nonetheless I'll point current errors (which didn't occur at that time) here, and after any of bsod I'll update thread shortly with small dump files.

Task Scheduling Error: m->NextScheduledSPRetry <numbers>,
Module causing problems: KERNELBASE.dll (it may be slightly different as my windows language isn't english)
Cryptographic Services failed to initialize the catalog database
Volume Shadow Copy Service Error: Unexpected error calling CoCreateInstance
Task Scheduling Error: Continuously busy for more than a second
Unable to recover from a kernel exception. The application must close

Only these ones are potentially useful, most event viewer errors might only happen once and be recorded, the next time the process runs it might be fine. The dump files from the BSOD might help us more.

Hi, I ran the dump file through the debugger and got the following information: https://jsfiddle.net/hxz0938g/show This link is for anyone wanting to help. You do not have to view it. It is safe to "run the fiddle" as the page asks.

File information:122720-62390-01.dmp (Dec 27 2020 - 11:59:13)
Bugcheck:PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA (50)
Probably caused by:memory_corruption (Process: opera.exe)
Uptime:1 Day(s), 19 Hour(s), 58 Min(s), and 18 Sec(s)

Possible Motherboard page: https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/MAXIMUS_IV_EXTREME/
There are BIOS updates available for your system which may help. Wait for additional information before deciding to update or not. Important: Verify that I have linked to the correct motherboard. Updating your BIOS can be risky. Never try it when you might lose power (lightning storms, recent power outages, etc).

This information can be used by others to help you. Someone else will post with more information. Please wait for additional answers. Good luck.

What razer equipment do you have? I don't know this one
Jul 08 2015SEIREN.sysRazer Inc. Razer Seiren driver
It is only razer driver on pc

the BSOD could be caused by old LAN drivers
Jun 11 2018e1i65x64.sysIntel(R) Gigabit Adapter driver

just trying to figure out what you have, motherboard just says Intel®, 2 x Gigabit LAN Controller(s) which isn't exactly specific
you could try running https://www.intel.com.au/content/www/au/en/support/detect.html and see if it sees a newer LAN driver.

do you mean dual boot or another PC? If dual boot, and same pause happens on 2 OS, its not going to be a software problem

i should have said, can you remove the OC while we look
so you got same slowness on 2 hdd?

updating BIOS to the latest version might help = https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/MAXIMUS_IV_EXTREME/HelpDesk_BIOS/
manual shows how to update bios on page 3-41. I would link pdf but its not hosted on the Asus website. you can download it there though - https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/MAXIMUS_IV_EXTREME/HelpDesk_Manual/

i don't think its a ram problem as it won't cause slow down, just crashes. You can try running memtest86 on each of your ram sticks, one stick at a time, up to 4 passes. Only error count you want is 0, any higher could be cause of the BSOD. Remove/replace ram sticks with errors. Memtest is created as a bootable USB so that you don’t need windows to run it

How old is the PSU? It could be it if its wearing out and not supplying adequate power for things to run

Dual Boot, it completely freeze (nothing is responding at all). Only reset button helps

Same SATA 6 GB/s. So yes
And I'll disable OC.

I'll do it shortly

I'll check them individually, only checked them as both.

I think the PSU might have around 12-16 months.
