Games stutter with chrome open?

Chrome is a memory hog since I always have apps open but it uses nothing else. With chrome on my memory is basically half gone, but with a game open like Farcry 4 or any other modern and intensive game, the memory goes up to 80-90% usage, and it starts stuttering, closing chrome and dropping the usage to 40-50% removes the stuttering. Why? does ram stop working after like 80%? Shouldnt I stutter at like 100% usage? or could this be another problem? all intensive games lag when i have chrome open. Should I get more ram?

It's more likely that with a 100% usage of ram your pc will just freeze.I think that you need some free ram to move data around just like with ssd's some over provisioning will help with keeping it speedy.

Have you tried another search machine like Mozilla Firefox?
