Gaming at 1440p 144hz

I am getting a gtx 1080 with an i7 8700k 16 gb ram and ssd etc...
I want 60 fps gaming on 144hz monitor at 1440p preferably ultra if not very high or high at a lowest. Will a 1080 do the job for ultra or will i have to lower the graphics. Games i would play include Call of duty ww2, fallout 4, rust and maybe Skyrim but other games aswell

Yeah, that rig will push 1440p at 60fps on ultra easy for any reasonably optimized game. But a few poorly optimized games it will dip below 60 fps, but that is not because of your hardware, but the game.

thanks a lot i was worried because someone said that my 1080 would not handle 1440p at 144hz on ultra : )

at 144hz?

The 1080 will struggle to maintain 144hz at 1440p on ultra settings, the 1080ti might be able to manage better but will still have dips below 144 depending the game
