Gaming budget cpu?

I'm plan on building a new system in oct. I'm going use my current Video card which is radeon 7770 and my ram with my 7200 rpm hard drive.

Is the 6300 vis still the budget or is there another one that performs better.

The i3 4150 is much better CPU, with better single core performance and hyperthreading, which means it acts as quad core in 2 physical cores in terms of performance.
Same price. Go for it!

Is a i5 worth buying? over the i3?

It depends, if you're looking for a 4th gen i5, then go for it as the previous gens don't support the latest Z/H97 for Broadwell, whereas 4th gen i3/5/7 does.
Also, the i5 is the gamer's pick for CPU, so if you tell me which specific model you're looking at, I can clear the doubts further

All I need is some thing better then my fx4100 in that works great with my current video card. Also what motherboard would you pick to go with that cpu?

Actually not only mine, but any gamer's pick even over an i7. And that's the best value for money capable of running any latest title on high with 40-50 FPS with your card. Ultra can be messy but that'll be because of your GPU, not this CPU, but you can get upto 40+ FPS on BF4 as its very CPU intensive. It OCs very well too. 4.2GHz stable is not bad!

But if you're on a budget then:

CPU: Intel Core i5-4460 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor ($182.79 @ NCIX US)
Motherboard: MSI Z97 PC MATE ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($89.98 @ OutletPC)
Total: $272.77

Would be the pick. A solid CPU, non OCable but I included a Z series MoBo so that if you wish to OC with maybe a Broadwell in the future, then your MoBo shouldn't be a constraint. You can still save $10 by dropping to H97. I'd rather opt a Z though.

Your current card is fairly powerful, but there're games which require some really crazy graphics, so it might be a constraint there. But I'd say with any of those above combo, your PC would be a gamer's PC capable of running any latest title on decent settings. With i5 4690K, no doubt it'd be really powerful and future proof, CPU wise, for a couple of heavy gaming years.

this is what im trying to build for WOD when it comes out this is what I have so far total price is like $560 would this due I also use AMD ram which is decent for gaming does what I want it to do.

I changed the PSU from a tier 3 to a tier 2 Class B one. Better value for money.

The Case I suggest has a lot better cable management and is generally chosen for high end systems. Its entirely your lookout for the ultimate choice here though. The one I suggested is cheaper too, but looks are fantastic.

I upgraded your CPU to a much better 4th gen i5 3.3 GHz Quad core. Much better than the i3 and still fits the budget.
