Gaming Build Check

Solution
The WINDFORCE 970 has received a lot of negative feedback because it seems to coil whine the most out of all the other cards. I have a STRIX 970 and I have no problems at all. I really like the 3x design but if its going to coil whine that just isnt acceptable and I would try and get a different card. Maybe MSI's or the STRIX. Other than that, everything looks good! :) You may have issues installing those fans... If you are using small screws and not the really long ones, good luck.

I can see that your on a budget for 1000$. Do you care about peripherals? And you bought a corsair case, which has an intake and exhaust, I wouldn't buy those 7 fans.(maybe 2, one for you cooler master cooler and 1 for you chassi.) You wouldn't need them unless you go for extreme water cooling with a 120mm push pull config. Spend the remainder of your budget that you have after these changes, you could get a good mouse & keyboard.

That CM bundle actually isn't that bad 😛 Honestly for the price is really isnt. I have the blue one and it's all right I guess.. The mouse isn't very satisfying but the keyboard is just like any other membrane keyboard.

You're right i don't really care about peripherals, that mouse and keyboard bundle will do the job i think. I have another mouse anyway if that one isn't all that great. and the 7 fans are to make my rig as cool as possible and they match my aesthetic. They also take up every possible fan mount on the thing. And the budget is over $1000, i just have bought some of the components and i think it subtracted the cost.

I was really on the fence about either the strix or the windforce. The windforce had the best cooling option but i heard nothing about he coil whine =/ and apparently the strix runs very quiet. oh the decisions...

On Newegg, the STRIX has 76% 5 stars and the WINDFORCE has 56%.

I would recommend the gigabyte g1 gaming, where as the windforce has plastic parts, the g1 is a 13in hard metal card. The windforce cools all of the vrm's, allowing for better overclocking. There is even an ek waterblock for this card if you want to overclock. Although it will take more power and will be louder. But, for the short term it is cheaper...

It also has way better reviews than the windforce. So your options are this or the strix.

After diving into the comparisons a lot more, i think i'm gonna go with the MSI. Would you know why it not having a backplate is a big deal? It doesn't seem like anything bad.

Wow that is all? I thought it was something would have to do with performance or protection. I mean the msi card would look amazing in my build as it stands so I don't mind it not having a back plate. thanks for the peace of mind!

Well theoretically it increases rigidity but you definitely don't need that extra "theoretical rigidity".
