needforseat.de slash dxracer style chairs look promising as they have metal frames. honestly any normal office type chairs fall apart after a year and ones that do not fall apart which have metal frames can easily cost 3/4 of your budget. overpriced i know however that is just how things are.
as for a desk that depends on the space you have to put it (whether an L or a straight desk is better) and also if you like the keyboard on top or if you like a drawer. the glass/aluminum ones you find most places arent bad choices and neither are the wood/steel ones you find here and there.
what do i use? an 7ft by 3ft table i pickup up for free at a retail store which was revamping their store. $50 in formica (laminiate) later and it makes an excellent desk (see signature link if you care). i currently use a regular office chair (have to replace it every year) as i dont have the money for a nice chair ($500+) and the racing seats would not work for me.
