There seems to be almost no chairs designed with a tilt-locking function. Everyone seems to be building chairs with adjustable-tension tilt. Personally, I need the ability to lock the chair at any tilt angle (meaning the seat back and seat can move as a unit and lock at any angle).

Do the members of this forum have any tips on brands that have this function? I'll save you some time and say that as far as I can tell DX Racing does NOT have this function, with the untimely demise of the Max series.

Thanks!

Sorry for the extremely late reply! I've been moving and starting school and this thread slipped my mind 😛

It has over 20 lock positions so it can tilt to almost any position I want. Every "step" only moves it a couple centimeters at a time.
Yeah I just got a confirmation response directly from DX Racer an hour after I posted here. Below is their response.
The problem of lack of information is that I watched about a dozen reviews on YouTube and not one of them showed a tilt lock on the DX Racer. I guess its just not something most people pay attention to.

Response from DX Racer:

The tilt feature you are referring to is known as a multifunctional mechanism. That mechanism is present in allot of the other models we carry. You would see that listed below each pictured model and would read "Multifunctional Mechanism". You would see that some models within the Racing series, all the models in the King, Iron and Classic series would also carry this feature. We have not been disclosed with the information behind discontinuing the Max series but do hope you would be able to find a different series that would suite your needs. If you have any further questions please feel free to contact us.

you might enjoy watching this on needforseat vs some of the competition

now, i've heard that needforseat used to buy their chairs through dxracer before forming their own company so quality levels might be similar however only needforseat offers a full teardown video so its hard to say.

regardless, i wouldnt buy any cheapo knockoff brands.. but one with a metal frame.

Okay, so I've spent some time going back through the reviews on YouTube, looking specifically at the Iron series you have. It looks like instead of an infinite lockout, it has preset positions that can be locked out. Is this correct? If so, can you tell me how many?
