I want to buy my 13 yr old son a gaming computer for Christmas. He plays minecraft and planetside 2 and warface at his friends house. He would like ultra graphics. I have no idea where to begin. I am on a limited budget of $500-$700. Thanks so much!

Solution
Here is a good gaming PC for your budget and the games listed.

This is right smack in the middle of your budget and it comes with everything you need. Mouse, Keyboard, and the computer itself.

Now, I'm assuming you already own a monitor. If not, please let me know via reply to this post.

This should get you:

Minecraft: Ultra settings at around 50+ FPS
Warface: Ultra settings around 30-50 FPS
Planetside 2: High settings at around 30-40 FPS (Ultra settings on this game may be limiting this computer)

If you have no idea what FPS means, google it. Essentially it means that if you have 30 or more FPS then you have a smooth gameplay.

Please let me know if this computer does not fit your sons needs.

I advise you put a large chunk of your budget on the GPU (This will mainly control graphics), especially because you are on a tight budget, plus there are all kinds of sales out right now. A $150-$200 GPU such as an R9 270X or the R9 280's series will mostly max out all games just fine, but you have to get a good CPU to run all of that effectively, so I would recommend an AMD CPU with an AMD board, That adds up to about $300-$400ish, so leaving you a few hundred for other components. The FX-6300 is about $80 right now (CPU), and the FX-8320 is about $100 right now, they are close to Intels I5s but half the price. Get somebody to choose parts for you though, and you can build a nice PC for that price, but you will have to cheap out on some other components. I recommend 8GB of RAM especially if you want to max out games, although $500-$700 is a low budget for a performance build, but it should be fine.
