Gaming computer around 1800 dollars questions?

I have never built a computer before, I just have a few questions. I play really only strategy games, Total war series, company of heroes, some Lord of the rings online and world of warcraft. I really need a good computer for school aswell, wordprocessor mostly.

What exactly should I be looking for given what I am going to use the computer for?
I would only like to spend about 1800 dollars, thats after taxes rebates and after buyin the monitor

Would the i53570 work for me?
What graphics card would you sugest?
I was thinking Radeon 7970?
Is 16gb of ram overkill?

with the most graphics-intensive game on your list as WoW, you could build a rig to your requirements for probably 1/3 of that $1800... case is whatever you like the most that will fit your parts (i.e. ATX motherboard will not fit into micro-ATX, etc).

as for the rest, your budget allows a monstrous beast of a machine. it's up to you how much money you want to put into it, but WoW doesn't require that insane of a rig at all, even at max res and max settings. $800 is more around what you could spend to also futureproof your build so you can easily upgrade parts without having to buy all new. this list is basically my original build before i was restricted with a budget.
