the pc is fine but your memory is incompatible with sandybridge cpus you need dual channel ram. also 12gb is way overkill for games i would say 4gb minimum and 8gb max with 1600mhz speed.

Can you give me a link to a compatible cpu?

for 6970 you only need 650w psu and since you have an h67 board you cant cf/ or have tri channeled ram so for your ram get 8 gb 1600mhz gskill ram. also if you are just gaming get the i5 2500 because you wont see any increase in performance if you get the i7 2600. also have you looked at this board- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131711&cm_re=h67_motherboard-_-13-131-711-_-Product

I wouldn't get an H67 board, you can't overclock with those. I'd get a P67 Asus or Gigabit board and you'll be much better. Of course, that's just my advice.

You can also save money by getting a 6950 and flashing it to a 6970 if that is still possible (don't own a 6950, I've just read about others doing so).

But you want a motherboard that supports DDR3 1600.

That ram is way too fast for your motherboard. It would work, but you would be wasting money as that board only supports up to 1333mhz which is why I said you should get a different motherboard. Realistically you probably won't need anything higher than 1600mhz on the memory, but the board needs to be compatible or you won't get those speeds.

You could also just get 1333mhz memory, but the cost is usually about the same as 1600mhz and Intel boards aren't really that great anyway.

Now I have a question, why are you getting a 2500k if you want to buy a motherboard that can't overclock? the k series are for overclockers, you could save some money getting a non k version if you have no intention to ever overclock. If you want to overclock you need a 2500k plus a P67 board, that Intel board is H67 which will not overclock that chip.

The answer is, that the other boards on that website only come with free games that i already have, so they are more expensive. Also please could you link me to a good motherboard on scan.co.uk cos i can't find one.

again you dont need that big of a psu a corsair tx 650 will do since you wont be cf with a h67 mobo.

It depends what you are willing to spend, but the motherboard is the most important part of your build so don't cheap out on this area! This is what I have:

I'm a bit biased towards Asus as you can tell, but Gigabit is probably their biggest competitor so you can check those out as well.

These boards would have no problem overclocking that 2500k very nicely.

One additional piece of advice I would add is to also get an aftermarket CPU cooler, the stock intel one is complete crap. I was getting very high temps without even overclocking, slapped on a Zalman 9900 and dropped 20celcius in load temps. You don't have to get an aftermarket cooler, but just thought I'd mention it as a recommendation even if you aren't planning to do much overclocking.

I absolutely agree, you don't need 900watts unless you are throwing in a bunch of hard drives and going SLI or crossfire on multiple graphic cards. Anything over 600w would be just fine for what you've got. I almost forgot to mention the PSU, but yea, you definitely don't need that much wattage! However, I would recommend whatever you get go with a Corsair. They are very quiet!
