What's a good budget for a desktop gaming machine? What could I expect out of it?

A typical mid-range PC would be between $700-$1000. Expect to get 40-60 FPS on most of the modern games (Battlefield, COD, CS:GO, Dota, Mad Max, Rocket League etc....). Also expect a lot of fun.
