Gaming Desktop Configuration

Hello there,

I am planning to buy an assembled desktop for playing high end games like crysis 3 in maximum settings along with doing my regular office and other works. My budget is INR 45,000-50,000 (800$). Can anyone suggest me a detailed configuration list I should go for. I can compromise a bit on the monitor which I can upgrade later on however I want the best hardwares for my system like the processor(right now I am planning for i5 4th generation) smps, nvidia etc. Please suggest me the configuration I should go for

Hello Ankit,

You should understand that you cannot get a quality system under Rs. 50000. I suggest you to expand the budget by extra Rs. 6000, to get a solid gaming config that will play all games with high/very high graphical fidelity @1080p, including Crysis 3.

Online retail pricing for PC Components are really high. So I suggest you procure the following quality parts from a local retailer for better price and save yourself a few thousand bucks.

I've come up with this configuration after considering stability, durability and performance. So don't ask me again if I could come up with better one or somewhat inferior one. All components mentioned below are quality ones with pretty good warranty.

All prices based on local retail market [as of writing this suggestion]:

Intel i5 4440 Rs. 12400
Gigabyte GA-H81M-S Motherboard Rs. 3200

Seagate 1TB Hard Disk Rs. 3500
Transcend OEM (2 x 4GB) 8GB 1600MHz RAM Rs. 2700
MSI Geforce GTX960 2GB DDR5 OC Graphics Card Rs. 16350

BenQ GW2255 21.5-inch HD LED Monitor Rs. 7500

Creative Inspire T3300 2.1 Multimedia Speakers Rs. 2700

Antec VP Series 550W Power Supply (VP550P) Rs. 3600
Antec X1-E Gaming Cabinet with Window - Black Rs. 2800

HP C2600 Wired Multimedia Keyboard and Mouse (J2X04AA) Rs. 700

LG DVD Writer Rs. 900

Total Rs. 56350

You can cross check yourself all the above mentioned parts for online pricing, which would surely be at least Rs. 4000 or more costlier in total.

The GTX 960 only require a 430W PSU that can deliver 20Amps or more on its +12V rail. The Antec 550W is a quality PSU that deliver 45Amps on its +12V rails combined, which is more than enough to power this rig. This PSU also allows you to upgrade in future to new high end graphics cards like NVIDIA GTX 970/980, AMD R9 280X/390/390X etc.

Thanks a lot Yeskay, I really appreciate your response. I will go with your configuration and advice, just a couple of more doubts to clear.

Doubt 1 - You mentioned about MSI Geforce GTX960 2GB DDR5 OC Graphics Card , I would like to know what about Nvidia GTX 750i. I mean to ask can't I go for nvidia graphics, if it's ok which one I should go for Nvidia GTX960, NIVIDIA GTX 770 TI or any other as per your view. Or this is the best choice to go for MSI Geforce GTX960 2GB DDR5 OC Graphics Card as per my budget and requirements.

Doubt 2 - You mentioned about Antec VP Series 550W Power Supply (VP550P) . I would like to know if Antex VP can support let's say I run crysis 3 for 8 hours straight. My concern is if I am using the above mentioned SMPS will it be able to control the heat generated after running a high end game like crysis 3 for long hours.

I am quite inexperienced in configurations therefore just wanted to clear my doubts.

Hello there, hope you are doing great. I would request your advice again. I am looking to build a new desktop for my gamin and work. Last time you helped me to build a powerful machine is is performing great even today. However I am looking to build a more powerful machine now. My budget is INR 1,00,000. I am ok with slight up or down the budget.
