Hello,
First-time builder. Been doing some research, and I'm seeing that the i5-2500k consistently gets great reviews. I'd use this build primarily for gaming and some pic/video management (nothing too intense on that end). Any ideas here? I have no components, so open to any suggestions. Ideally it'd be in 700-1000 dollar range, if that's even possible. Thanks!

just as a simple, rough idea, you could look at getting an i5 2500k, P67 or Z68 motherboard, 8GB RAM and an Nvidia GTX 560 Ti. How is this for budget, do you think you could afford this kind of spec?

The CPU will munch through photo and video fine for what you seem to need. you could even go lower (pricewise and performance) and get a i5 2300 or 2400 if you wanted a better GAMING PC, as you could afford a better graphics card with the savings.
