Hi,
I am planning to build me a gaming pc and this is the setup i plan to use.
CPU: Intel Core i7-4790 3.6GHz Quad-Core Processor
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z97X-Gaming G1 WIFI-BK ATX LGA1150 Motherboard
Memory: Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
Storage:Samsung 840 Pro Series 256GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GB Twin Frozr V Video Card
Power Supply: EVGA 850W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply

Will this setup allow me to play games at ultra settings and have decent frame rate?

Solution
750 is enough for 4 970 sli since they require only around 150watts youll have 100 or more watts left aside that your system can use later on and the xfx gives around an extra 50 watts which in total is 800 watts for 95$

1. Unless you are going 3x GPU, I'd knock the Mobo down to a G1.Sniper Z97 or Z97x-UD5H, and buy a seperate wireless PCI-E adapter.

2. The 'decent' frame rate would heavily depend on your definition of 'decent', and also your resolution.

@chenw I do intend to upgrade to 2 GPUs and maybe 3 for SLI one day... And for decent i was hoping like 30 to 50?

If i do intend to increase the number of GPUs to 3 possibly, is 750W sufficient? Or should i stick to 850

G1.Sniper and UD5H both support 2x SLI, if you want to go triple, you will need at least Gaming GT or G1 as your choice, but I am not sure how 'fake' PCI-E lanes work compared to real ones (like on a 5820k with X99 Mobo).

30~50 should be achieveable with 1080p and 1440p for quite a while.

750W should be enough for Double SLI, 850W might be cutting it close for triple.

4790k only inherently support 16 PCI-E lanes (I call these lanes real), which is not enough on its own to achieve the x8 minimum to use SLI in a triple/quad GPU setups (nVidia does not allow SLI with x4 bandwidth), hence any Z97 mobos that come with a PCI slot lanes totalling more than 16 has a PLX chip which effectively increases the total PCI-E lane for the slots (but not the CPU), hence why I called them 'fake', they are not real pci lanes coming from the CPU itself.

@4k you might need to turn down details to achieve that kind of FPS, I'd probably wait for higher vram cards for 4k

Oh..This is silly of me but i got another question which is...If i consider the 970 Sli or a 980, do i require extra fans in the casing and/or a better cooling system for the cpu

The case fans would entirely depend on where you can place fans in your case, but, given the choice, I'd probably opt for a side fan (quite a few frown upon a side fan) directly on top of the GPU's.

Still good airflow is the key though, and your cable management would help, so will removing unneccesary things that can be removed (such as empty harddrive cages) if they block the fans.
