Hello, I want to make a PC for my brother and he has a 19" monitor 1440x900 with no intent of upgrading it. I don't want to overkill it since 1080p gaming will not be the case. What do you recommend? Will the GTX 950 last around 3 years on that resolution at 30+ fps(low-medium) or should I wait and build a ddr4 PC with Pascal gpu(probably a gtx 1060 gpu)? I don't mind Amd suggestions, but I'm more headed towards Nvidia. Thanks.

Which games do you want play? Even the GTX 750 Ti is capable of 60 fps and more on many actual games at 1920*1080 pixels. If you take the GTX 950, it should be fine for at least 3 years from now for 30 fps at 900p resolution. It depends on the game and settings. Nobody knows the future and it could be, that you can't play some games. Assassin's Creed: Unity in example is very demanding and could be played with medium settings (based on GTX 750 Ti, which is a little bit slower). Same goes for Witcher 3.

A gaming system running on a 19" monitor is like a Corvette bring driven around a circle driveway as a race, quite limiting.

You look at your screen 100% of the time you are on the computer, aside from the keyboard and mouse it's the only thing that really affects how you use the system.

A 950 will be more than good enough at 1440x900 at medium settings and depending on the CPU should run things fine 1080 also. I'd try to talk him into getting a 22 or 24" monitor for games though, the 19" ones end up looking pretty small quickly.

He mostly plays MOBA and games in 3rd person like gta, skyrim, assassins creed etc. . I guess gtx 950 will do fine.
