The Microsoft Lifechat LX-3000 has a super nice mic and the sound is alright. I've also heard good things about the Koss SB45, but there's not much I can tell you about it.

I've tried a couple of them including a set from Corsair which broke twice. (The original one I bought plus the set that came back from the RMA.) Honestly for that cheap I don't expect anything good. I'm doing really will with a set I bought from Radioshack. No mic but they have lasted me longer then any other set. I'd get the best BASIC set you can. Will be the most worry free.
