So I work for a company and we are doing a little challenge basically who can integrate a computer into a backpack. The computer can't be tethered to anything so it has to run on batteries. I'm looking for a battery that is big enough to run a rx 480 for 2 hours at load on one charge. Should I look at large laptop batteries? Any ideas?

Consider this:
A UPS with enough battery to run a desktop PC for 30 minutes weighs in at around 30 lbs.

APC has a good calculator for USP requirements. Basically, just a big battery pack.
http://www.apc.com/tools/ups_selector/pso/zones/by_load.cfm?location_type=home

Plug in your numbers, and see what size UPS they recommend. Then look at the size and weight of that thing.
For instance:
A 400watt load, for a runtime of 30 minutes, they recommend this thing:
APC Power Saving Back-UPS Pro 1500
$165, and 30 lbs.

Laptop parts and desktop parts are very different.

APC have a lot of bulky features that I don't need like surge protection. A UPS is not designed to be the primary source of power

Yes I know. I was just using that as a general indication.
But the largest/heaviest part of a UPS is the battery. More watts + more runtime = more battery.
