Gaming is related to graphics card or RAM?

When i play a game, do i need a good ram or good graphics card to prevent my game from lagging? how does ram and graphics card relate when it comes to gaming?

For gaming, in order: GPU, CPU, then RAM.

All are important...If you have a mind blowing CPU and GPU but 512 MB ram then games won't work properly.

All components should be balanced in performance..

Minimum for gaming :

2 GHz dual core CPU, 256 MB GDDR3 GPU, 2GB RAM.

Medium gaming :

2.5 dual core CPU, 512 MB GDDR3, 4GB RAM

High gaming platform (minimum requirements):

3 GHz tri-core CPU / 2.4 Quad core , 512 MB GDDR3 GPU, 4GB RAM
