Gaming laptop around $1300

Hello, I am looking for a gaming laptop that I can also use for studying purposes. I will be going into Grade 11 this year, and I will be programming on it as well.
I am looking for a laptop that is...
*Around 14 - 17 inches,
*moderately slim,
*and something that isn't too heavy.
The laptop that I am looking at is the Lenovo Y50 UHD version... Do the scaling issues still persist?

yes the y50 scaling issues still exist, just get the regular 1080p version I think.

Thank you for your quick replies.

I am leaning towards the 1080p version of the Y50, however, I've heard some not - so -great things about that screen. I'm not the slightest bit picky on the screen myself, nor have I used a IPS panel (unfortunately), would you say that it's noticeable?
