Real simple: the wife needs a laptop, manly for basic tasks.

I want to play every time we travel.

Bottom line: a light computer, 14 inch max, dedicated gpu.

Max budget: $1200.

Is this even possible?

Thank you

Solution
Definitely, just go on any major site like amazon or newegg, for that price you should be able to get a quad core i7. Going with a 15" may be cheaper.
Right at your limit of $1,200 is the Dell XPS 15.

-The thin bezel of this 15.6" laptop means the actual size is that of an average 14" laptop.
- Quad core i5-6300HQ CPU
- GTX 960m GPU
- 1080p screen
- 8GB RAM
- 1TB HDD and a 32GB SSD cache
- 3.9lbs in it's default configuration
- Roughly 7 to 8 hour battery life based on "average use" tests.
