Gaming Laptop Price

So been looking around for gaming laptops around the 1200-1500 price range. From everything that I saw, I felt like this one is good. Can people please provide feedback on this model if it's good or not. I'm not very savvy with laptops.

Do I need 16GB DDR3 or can I get by with 8GB?

Will 120GB EVO SSD benefit me in any way? Can I get by with only 750GB regular hard drive?

I think Sager makes a great machine. The SSD will help mostly in any games where you have load times and it will allow your computer to boot much faster of course. You do not mention what games you are playing, but while the 770m is a good card but you will not be able to play some of the more demanding games on high and 1080p, see here for benchmarks: http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-770M.88995.0.html

If all you are doing is gaming, 8gb of ram will be more than sufficient. If you are looking to save money I would drop the SSD, keep 8gb or ram, and consider if you can squeek the 780m into your budget.

That would get you closer, but you aren't going to completely max out either of those or any demanding game at 60fps on an 8970m. For comparison an 8970m is about on par with a desktop 6970 which many would consider a midrange desktop card.

Crysis 3 at ultra and 1080p is showing only 22fps on the 8970. To get the kind of performance you are indicating you would need to look at an SLI 8970 set-up and that is going to push you into the $2,000+ price range.
