Morning/Evening, i bought a gaming laptop a couple of months ago that came with 8GB RAM. I'm looking to upgrade to 16GB (2 x 8GB)

I was wondering if this would be a decent option....

This is what is currently in the machine...

https://www.amazon.com/Hynix-PC4-21300-DDR4-2666MHz-260-Pin-HMA81GS6CJR8N-VK/dp/B07JP4C1PD

and i'm considering buying two of these....

https://www.ebuyer.com/760929-ballistix-8gb-sport-lt-ddr4-2400-sodimm-laptop-memory-bls8g4s240fsdk

I know the Ballistix stuff is only 2400 as opposed to the 2666 speed of the RAM i have already but would that make much of a difference?

Most gaming RAM i've seen seems to be 2400.

Any ideas?

Do you think that'll be ok?

Firstly, mixed RAM modules are never guaranteed to work as they are only guaranteed in the form sold (I.e. in the same pack) regardless as to if they are the same make / model / timings.

The other side of this is if you install 2400 RAM then it will likely downclock your other RAM to 2400 also, so you'd technically be downgrading your current RAM slightly.

Realistically, we would likely need to know the laptop you are trying to upgrade - but for appropriate RAM for your laptop, you can use the Crucial RAM compatibility finder here.
