[SOLVED] Gaming Laptop runs worse on External Display.

Hello,

I have a problem with my laptop. It's an Lenovo Legion y540-15Irh for gaming.

The specs are :

• Gpu : Nvidia Geforce GTX 1660ti 6gb
• Cpu : Intel core I7-9750HF 2.60GHz
• Motherboard : Lenovo 81SX
• RAM : 16gb
• SSD : 1tb

I have 2 ports for the display : HDMI and miniDisplayPort

The problem is that when I play on the display of the laptop, it performs better in games than the external display. (10 fps difference)

The display is an AOC E2270SWHN, 60Hz, connected through HDMI.
The laptop display and the external display have the same resolution : 1920x1080

I've searched a lot on the Internet and what I found out is that the lower performance on the external display is produced by the fact that the HDMI port goes to the motherboard and after that to the GPU, not directly to the GPU.

I tried changing Nvidia control panel settings but I do not see the point of doing that because I've tested the gameplay on the laptop display and the external display without touching Nvidia. So it would not be the problem.

I also found out something like Nvidia Optimus (I'm thinking of the situation when games run on the iGPU and not GPU that's all I understood), which I think is the same as Hybrid mode from Lenovo Vantage but I don't use it. And how to disable Nvidia Optimus (that's what I found on Internet) is by connecting an external display but for me is inverse, because I found people that said they have better performance on external displays, not like me.

I am using the HDMI port which I think it's not going directly to the Gpu. What I want to do is to buy an Adapter for my display, from miniDisplayPort to HDMI and connect it through it. Maybe the miniDisplayPort goes directly to the Gpu ?

I thought they were at the same resolution.
Their native resolution is the same but on the laptop display I have 125% scaling recommended by Windows 10 because it's a smaller display and when I was playing my game, it had a resolution like 1536x864 I think, because its resolution depends on the one of my desktop. I found out by taking a screenshot and looking at the resolution.
