[SOLVED] Gaming Laptop suddenly underperforming

Hello,
Just about a month ago, I purchased a MSI GF62VR 7RF Gaming Laptop. At first, everything was working fine. My games were mostly running smoothly on (~high) settings. Nonetheless, just about a week ago, I jumped into a game of Overwatch (which I usually get around 110-120 fps on med settings) and was shocked to see my system struggle to maintain 60 fps. The frames would also stutter and drop to around 30-40 fps in combat. In Fortnite, I would usually be able to run the game at smooth 90-120 fps on low, but was only getting 70-90ish which was also stuttering very hard
I updated my drivers and also put maximum performance on Nvidia, battery, etc.

When I tried user benchmarking, it came up with some interesting results:
Intel Core i7-7700HQ
158,985 User benchmarks, average bench 67%
U3E1, 1 CPU, 2 cores, 4 threads
Base clock 2.8 GHz, turbo 2.8 GHz (avg)

Performing way below expectations (5th percentile)

Nvidia GTX 1060 (Mobile)
43,825 User benchmarks, average bench 59%
MSI(1462 11D5) ≥ 4GB

Performing above expectations (84th percentile)

SPECS:
intel i7-7700hq
GTX 1060 6gb
16gb ram
128gb SSD

Any assistance is appreciated

1. Does task manager tell you anything useful when gaming like the cpu or gpu sitting at 100%?
2. Have you checked the temps while gaming yet? I like HWinfo64
3. Given that that the laptop is so new, the easiest solution would be to contact the manufacturer. They will most likely just send you a new one if they can't troubleshoot it.

Just checked again, same as usual (High Performance/prefer maximum performance)

Thanks for your reply.
My gpu temp generally stayed around 60 while running overwatch, although I’m certain that it was around 70-80 last time. My cpu temp was around 65.
When I checked task manager, I found that my device was using 100% cpu but barely 5% for my gtx 1060. I have already set my device to use the high performance Nvidia graphics on Nvidia Control panel, so I don’t think that’s the problem.
I also realised that recently, apps and the laptop itself have been taking some time to load/boot up compared to a week ago. (Around 6 seconds then, now around 18 seconds)
I think there might be something slowling down the system and preventing it from maximising its performance.
Thanks

Okay the cpu is bottlenecking the gpu which is probably the issue. Could be a virus or another process running in the background using up the cpus resources. Do you see anything in the processes tab using a lot of the cpu besides the game? Also, try running a couple of different antivirus software.
