Ok so this is a total mystery to me. One day my laptop was working perfectly fine, could play The Witcher 3 and other games on Ultra settings no problem, and no other issues at all. Then today all of a sudden it's running extremely slow. Programs are taking forever to start up and keep becoming unresponsive, games are stuttering and freezing for a few seconds at a time, and overall performance is terrible. I scanned it and there's no malware, all my drivers are up-to-date, I have 300gb free on my hard drive, my resources (memory, disk, etc) are not being used up (they're all at 60% or less usage on average). I've turned it off and then back on twice. I've deleted temp files. I can find absolutely nothing wrong with this laptop yet its performance is suffering greatly.

CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8750H CPU @ 2.20 GHz 2.21 GHz
RAM: 8.00 GB (7.86 usable)
GPU: NVidia GeForce 1050 ti
