Gaming Monitor 144Hz Dilemma ?!?

Hi all,

I have an monitor at 144Hz FreeSync and a video card GTX 1070.
My dilemma is next, if I select in NVIDIA Control Panel the Refresh rate at 100Hz for example, and in the Game (any game where i have this selection, for example: Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege) I select Refresh rate at 144Hz, the game will run at 144Hz which I have selected in it, or it will take the Refresh rate which I have selected in NVIDIA Control Panel??
The fact is in the game i have selected the 144Hz and the RivaTuner Statistic show me 144 FPS, that means the game goes to 144hz ?!?

I dunno, I just set min at 100 hz and left it at that. Seems very smooth. I've read some complaints about various games at 144hz. I don't really see the point of mucking with it.

I just want to know if the game run at 144hz from the game or at 100hz from the control panel?
Nobody knows?

Do you use HDMI? Because you need display port or dvi to get more than 60hz. Display port and dvi goes 144+

DP 1.2 cable comes with monitor.
