Hi

looking to buy 2 monitors
brother asked me to look for 1
and I wanted to change mine as well

we both want 1 mainly for gaming
I'm currently using a old LG Flatron W2452T
which is giving me a lot of shearing

I'm looking for 23-24inch monitor that can't be taller then 39cm or so in height
as there's a shelf above where the monitor sits
and would like to have speakers so i could connect a console with HDMI in the future, if i ever wanted to get 1 (but not deal breaker)

brother doesn't mind as long as its 23-24 inch and good for gaming
price range from £100-£200max (prefer lower of course :p)
any recommendations?

should i ditch the speaker idea?
as most gaming monitors doesn't seems to have speakers

thanks in advance for any help giving

Gaming monitors don't usually have speakers because everyone realizes that in order to fit speakers in to a monitor it either has to be incredibly well designed and expensive or they just suck so much you want to rip your ears off and stuff them in the speaker holes so no more noise can come out of them.

I would seriously consider being patient and waiting for a good deal on a variable refresh monitor with support for G-Sync or Free Sync, or whatever technology catches on and works with your other gear.

Tearing happens on any monitor that the refresh rate and frame rate are not in sync in some way. Usually this means just turning V-Sync on but that solution has a whole host of other problems (like causing judder when a frame misses the refresh rate slightly). Variable refresh technologies essentially eliminate this problem entirely by allowing the frame rate to drive the monitor refresh so there won't need to be a trade off between frame rate and tearing.

Sounds like a good idea
For myself
as I not really in a hurry
I haven't read much about the g-sync or free sync monitors
But they currently look quite expensive

With g-sync,
Current nvidia cards does (gtx 970) support them correct?
Do I need any other equipment other then a g-sync monitor?

And with AMD it's free sync correct?
And that ain't available yet
If it is, does a 7970 ghz edition support it?

But my brother wants to get a monitor now,
As he just brought a new rig,
Any recommendations for him?
