Gaming/Mouse Issues

Okay, well this might sound like a very obvious questions, and given that I'm a long time PC gamer, I should prob know better than to ask. But wanted to clear something up for my own sanity.

Recently, when gaming, I've been getting a bit of FPS lag when playing BF3 only.

My specs are

Q6600 + P5ne-sli
4gb Ram
W7 64 bit
1tb HD
GTX560ti.

I play on 16x10 on high settings.

As mentioned BF3 has been stuttering along for a few weeks, after running fluidly for the most part before that. Anyway, purely by chance, I updated my Logitech G5 gaming mouse, driver and firmware, and suddenly the stuttering is gone!!

My question is could a simple mouse driver have been that problematic? The mouse seemed to function fine on the generic windows 7 mouse driver before that.
Anyway, thanks for any input.

its not impossible that the driver change cleared something up... most likely it returned the mouse to its defaults as sometimes turning off things like mouse smoothing can have a dramatic effect on games. especially if it conflicted with the games owm mouse controllers settings..

yeah, somethimes the mouse can have "additional features" that it tries to install....

my mouse had extra buttons on the side, and lagged me a bit, but the drivers fixed it: now it doesnt try to "install drivers" when the mouse is plugged in, so the games run a lot smoother....
