i currently have a Microsoft Sidewinder X8 (pictured below) that i love. i like the cordless thing but the main thing that i love is having the back/forward buttons (or grenade/rifle) right there under the thumb instead of moving my hand to get to the forward button. are there currently any manufactures that are using this layout? thanks for any help!

btw, yes i realize that cordless is for noobs who don't know better, blah blah blah. i like cordless and i don't care if someone with a corded mouse is 1 tenth of a second blah blah blah don't care. i'm comfortable with a cordless.

There is a Bloody mouse with that over under layout, but it's wired.

If you are looking for a cordless gaming mouse, you would want to check Bloody R series. Not over/under, but you won't have to move your hand. Some people don't like them because of that layout, but you may like it.

If you don't mid a mouse with a cord, I would highly recommend you to buy a X7 F6. It has some more buttons, but you can program them as you wish. It's also really cheap and extremely durable mouse.

thanks for the suggestions. i am sure about the cordless/rechargeable thing and the stacked forward/back buttons as my two main points.

i really like the look of the Logitech G700S but the dual-mode mouse wheel with hyper scroll is a dealbreaker for me. i click with the middle mouse button all the time for opening and closing tabs, etc. the Naga is over the top with the grid of thumb buttons.

i don't get why the stacked thumb buttons aren't the norm for mice but the options seem severely limited.

i would love to stick with the X8. actually, this is my second one and it's starting to not register clicks. the mouse is discontinued and no longer available brand new from a reputable place. unfortunately, it's time to start thinking of what's next so i can look for a good deal while the X8 is still serviceable.

thanks for the Perixx and G602 suggestions. both look really nice and have some good points.
however, i watched several review videos of the G700s and they mentioned in passing that the button under the mouse wheel actually switches the wheel from ratchet to smooth scroll mode. this was the main sticking point with this mouse because the old style of switching wheel mode was to click the wheel itself. i use the wheel click a lot and i wasn't willing to give that up. now that i know it's a button that switches modes and i can still use the mouse wheel click to open/close tabs (or pull out my sidearm when my rifle is empty but there's a guy right there!) the Logitech G series of mice are right back in the mix. knowing the legendary Logitech warranty, i think i will keep my eyes open for a 602, 700, or 700s and get whichever one has a really good deal.

thanks again for all the help! are there any other models to keep in mind?
