gaming on 4k tv

Solution

Most people like monitors because of the low response time, but if you get a high quality/tier TV you should experience very little to non lag issues like I do, I play all kinds of different games, shooter, RPG, open world, sometimes MMO but not as much and I rarely get any lag. The only time you should really lag is because of your internet connection or if your hardware is not up to the task for high fps at 4k or if the game is not optimized very well. But if you like to use a big screen for games and...

Yeah was just wondering because i hate gaming on a small monitor and probably get a 4k tv instead.

But if you like to use a big screen for games and watch movies, a TV would work very well for you. I bought my TV because I wanted to watch Netflix and movies in 3D with the UHD upscaling feature, I think it makes the movie look better, and in my opinion it does look better than on a normal FHD TV. I could've gone with a monitor but I wanted to use it for movies too :) So if you like to use your display for other stuff like these, I think you should go for it. If you do, I would go for high quality TVs. If you are going for Samsung, go for something like the 7250 series or above which is $1,300+ for HDMI 2.0 ports. If you go for LG, I would go for something like the UB8500 series which is guaranteed to have HDMI 2.0 on it and it is an IPS display. The UB8000 series doesn't have very good reviews, so I wouldn't get that one, the smallest size for the UB8500 series is 49 inches I believe. Another option would be Panasonic, but you might be like everyone else that hates them because of their customer service. I do admit they are not very nice and comforting, but you do get what you promised for when you buy their TVs. Also Panasonic is the only company that has built in DP 1.2 connection on their UHD TVs, so if you have a GPU that's limited to that, they're your only solution for TVs. Sony has great picture quality from what I heard, but they don't have built in HDMI 2.0 ports on their TVs, you have to download a software for the TV to fix that, but even then there is still no guarantee that it will work all the time. So those are your choices that you should consider, just remember sometimes too cheap means something is not good about it or is missing :)

Thank will do some research of the ones you suggested.

No problem, if I were you, I would go for the LG TVs, for the specs it has, the price is not too bad. It has 1x HDMI 2.0 and 3x HDMI 1.4 and IPS which helps with color accuracy. Panasonic only has like one series of 4k TVs, so it shouldn't be too hard to find, lol. Their new one is coming out soon, which is the one I'm waiting for. So yeah, this is the cheapest high quality TV I would suggest if you're on a budget or something, it has HDMI 2.0 for your gaming needs. Just make sure you have the newest GPUs that has HDMI 2.0, like the gtx 980 or the new GPUs, 980 ti or 390x.

Well as -Lone- has mentioned it is nice, but you must remember that -Lone- is also running quad crossfire with 2 x R295x2 Cards!! which can no doubt make it silky smooth! Even at 30Hz *tips hat to -Lone-*

If you are wanting more fidelity, you would maybe be suited to looking at getting a 1440p monitor with Adaptive Sync, which will still give you and impressive DPI resolution and better framerate that 4K can muster on even monster specifications at this time. With the 4K TVs you get what you pay for, and the better ones are not cheap.

You are only confined to 30Hz on the larger QHD screens via HDMI, and you will require Display port 1.2 to get 60Hz. This will give you some input lag with games. So thats worth noting also. Especially if you play FPS games that require lightning reflex reactions.

Actually I only use CFX in one game, lol. So I am only using 1x of my 290x to run at 4k ultra. I'm waiting to get the 390x for stronger single card, I'll sell my 295x2s after GTA V is released for some testing for a few days.
