Hey
I have a Packard Bell laptop with an ATI mobility HD5470 grapics card. I regulary play games without problems, I get nice FPS and no lag. I got myself an old monitor that I could use as an external monitor when I'm working. I was wondering if I could also use the external monitor while gaming. For example displaying skype on my external monitor while gaming on my laptop monitor.
My laptop monitor has a resolution of 1600x900 and the external monitor has 1280x1024.
Am I putting too much load on my GPU by using the 2 monitors while gaming? I tried it out a few times and I didn't notice any framedrops while gaming. I used a GPU monitor and noticed that the GPU load was about 70-98% most of the times (while gaming with the external monitor) and around 60-80% while gaming without. The GPU temperature was around 51-60°C while gaming with the monitor and around 40-50°C while gaming without it.
I was wondering if anyone could clarify if it is harmful to do this. I don't want to risk my laptop's grapics card while doing this.
