Is it better to game on windows 8 or windows 7 cause I am in an argument with my friends about what is better.

win 7 is more stable. a lot of people who used the upgrade option have found win 8 game support to be clunky. the driver support has improved but theres still an issue with cpu timings being used instead of motherboard based 1s which arnt affected by overclocking.
with win 8 if you run an oc theres more chance of instability with games or software that use the rtc features.

as for dx11.2 and dx12 nothing uses them yet so they are of no consequence.

It's like asking if a case looks better than another one. It's all about personal preference. Some people might have bad experience gaming on Windows 7, some might not. Some people might have bad experience gaming on Windows 8, some might not. In addition, statistics cannot demonstrate all games' compatibility with the OS along with all the possible hardware configuration, because remember that driver plays a huge part in compatibility. Therefore, are we gonna question who has the better driver? Nvidia or AMD? No. That is a stupid question, and will result in unnecessary argument. As long as either Windows 7 or 8 is still alive and used by majority of the users, then I can assure you that there's no major difference between the two, most of the time.
