Hey, I'm looking for a starter gaming PC for my son. I found these builds and were wondering if they are what they say and if they are worth buying. He played CSGO on his old PC, thanks.

Hi there I have built a PC before and took many apart so I should be able to help. I would recommend the AMD X4 build that you linked or the first link. This is because even though its more expensive it has a much better GPU(graphics card) which would improve the performance of the PC enabling better quality. The first PC would be able to run many titles and at a push maybe run GTA 5 if your okay with your son playing it. The PC would easily run CS:GO and looks like a good starting PC. It should last a long time. I don't know what sort of fans are in the computer but if you are willing to take it apart you could always add better fans but that would not be necessary. I hope I helped you. Please message me if you need any further help.

Obviously the http://www.awd-it.co.uk/amd-x4-860k-4.5ghz-vantage-case-nvidia-gtx-960-2gb-gaming-pc-system.html is the best of the bunch. Has an actual dedicated graphics card and high clocked CPU which is good for CSGO.
I'm not familiar with a lot of European vendors for PCs but high clock rate on the CPU and having a dedicated GPU is important for gaming. The previously mentioned build should be adequate, but if he plays CSGO and you want to go the extra mile, get him a 144hz gaming monitor. It'll make a world of difference in his playing.

Hi there, you seem to know your stuff! How many frames would he be running in CSGO? Would this PC be able to play current AAA titles such as GTA V or maybe BF3? I am not familiar with the AMD CPUs. Also what monitor size would be appropriate?

Thanks

For CSGO you'd want a 1080p monitor probably in the 20-24inch range. Specifically for CSGO you'll want a 144hz refresh rate. He would be able to play all those games with medium-high graphic settings no problem.

I've built 6 gaming systems this month and have been building systems for about 15 years now.

Hi there for GTA 5 you would be looking at +45 fps according to a few benchmarks by people which is better than console however you could probably get +60 most of the time. Battlefield 3 looks like people are getting a good +70 FPS in game. On Far Cry 3 it seems to be +30 which would be full load (this is with high settings so lowering your settings would give higher fps). You could also run Crysis 3 at around +30.However you could boost this with lowering the settings yet again however the games will still look excellent. Anything else you would like to know? I hope I helped
