While I'm serious gamer, I'm just average then it comes to hardware and PC building. So, in next 2 months (july or august), I'm planning to buy new gaming PC. I need your help to build it and recommendations which parts to choose.
Right now I thinking about such PC. I choose these parts following recommendations by various hardware and gaming sities, if some parts are not compatible with each other, please tell me.
CPU: Intel Core i7-6700K 4.0Ghz
MB: I'm trying to choose between these two: Asus Maximus VIII Hero or Gigabyte GA-Z170X-Gaming 7
RAM: DDR4 Corsair Vengeance LPX Black 16GB (2x8GB) 2133MHz CL13 1.2V or Kingston HyperX Fury Black 16GB (2x8GB) 2133MHz CL14 1.2V (depends on the availability on my store, because both are now out of stock)
PSU: Seasonic X 750W Gold
SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 500GB (don't need HDD, prefer only SSD)
Case: Choosing the case almost gave me headache, but right now I'm thinking about NZXT Phantom 410 (or Phantom 530, depends on the availability, because this one is out of stock right now)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo
Optical Drive: Asus 24F1MT
VGA: MSI Gaming series, GTX 1080 or 1070, haven't decided yet, depends on the price
OS: Windows 10 64-bit OEM
I'm targeting in the 1500-2000€ price range. If I buy PC with GTX 1070, price is ~1850€, if with GTX 1080, then it rises up to ~2050€, which is a little above my budget.
So, my questions would be:
1. Most imprortant question: is every part compatible? Will these RAM work with MB and CPU? Will CPU work with these MB and so on.
2. 750W is enough for such PC?
3. Very important thing for me is the case. I don't want a loud one, don't want to have a tractor in my room, but I also don't want to have hot system. I also have in mind such cases as Cooler Master MasterCase 5, but I heard that it's fans are very loud, also, there is that black stripe, which seperates PSU from the rest of the system, is that good for cooling? Won't PSU become too hot in there? I also have in mind Fractal Design Define R5, knowing that noise is very important to me, this one can be really good, but I don't like the look of it and it's probably not very good at airflow and cooling. So, I came to verdict, that NZXT Phantoms are best for me. I see lots of good thing in them: nice futuristic look, Optical drive support, leds, good airflow, dust filters(?), but one thing is remain unclean to me: how is the noise? Any Phantom users out there? I'm not expecting it to work completely silent, some noise is OK, my current case is budget Antec Two Hundred V2 and it's definetly not without noise, but it's fine and not too loud. I'm not planning to OC or put any additional coolers. I would like a case quiter or with the same noise level like my Antec Two Hundred. I wonder how Phantoms perform in terms of noise to my current case? I think my video card (which is MSI GTX 980) and CPU cooler (Zalman CNPS10X Performa) makes even more noise than case fans.
4. Is 6700K good for gaming? I like to play Total War and other strategy games, so strong CPU is important for me, because strategy games are CPU demanding. I'm also can't wait for games like Dawn of War III, so, is 6700K good for it? My current one is AMD FX-8350 and it's starting to show age on newer games. Also, I'm playing games 16 years, and I never had Intel CPU, I was AMD user. Sadly, AMD doesn't make any good CPUs anymore. So I decided it's time to move to Intel, but I don't know about them much. How about Intel i7 5820K? Is it good? I would like to future proof, so more cores - better future proof? I know that games don't use and don't like multi core CPUs, but who knows that will be after 2 or 3 years.
5. Let's say, if I decide to buy PC with GTX 1070, won't it be like downgrade? I mean, if I move from PC with GTX 980 to PC with GTX 1070, will I see performance improvement?
6. Is there any difference in terms of performance between Corsair CL13 and Kingston CL14?
7. Which motherboard is better? Asus or Gigabyte? I prefer and trust Gigabyte more, because I had Asus motherboards previously and there was problems with them. But maybe I should give Asus one more chance, maybe I will be lucky and get stable motherboard this time?
