Hi guys,

For the last two week I've been researching PCs for a gaming build. I would like it to last more than a year.
I have about 1000eur to spend. I am from Slovenia and the cheapest prices I found were on mimovrste.com (cheaper than amazon.de or amazon.it and I ALWAYS use them to order anything).

I have narrowed it down to this basic build:

gtx 1060 359.00 €
Z170 PRO GAMING 160.00 €
i5 6600 Skylake 254.00 €
Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 8Gb 43.00 €
Samsung 850 Evo SSD 250GB 90.00 €
Toshiba 1 TB 50.00 €
Cooler Master Midi ATX CASE K380 56.00 €
Cooler Master 500W PSU 53.00 €
Cooler Master HYPER 212 EVO 36.00 €

1,101.00 €

The less I spend the more likely it is that I will actually build this (because I will also be getting a new Mac laptop).
I am a Mac user for years and the only thing I have is mouse, keyboard and a great screen.

I read that some people suggested an asrock H110m (which is 56eur) instead of the z170. I am also thinking that maybe the gtx 960 will be enough ( 247 eur). I could also not get the SSD but since I'm so used to it, I think I'd go crazy without it? What do you think? This build would be used ONLY for gaming. What about the CPU?

Thanks for any feedback. Cheers!

it's overpriced.
LC Power PSU + 960 -- nah man

a SSD would be superb. get one.
the 4460 is last gen and in most cases the same price as the skylakes.
you could get the 6500 if you wanna save a few €, best price/performance...

What about the GPU? gtx950/60 or gtx 1060 (for longevity purposes)?

PSU: B500 ver.2 RS500-ACABB1-EU 500W it has nice reviews as far as I found.

What about the H110 mobo?

the features of the H110 are a bit too tuned down imho.
only PCIe 2, no M.2 or SATAe suppport, only 1 DIMM per channel
I wouldn't go below the B150, H170 if you got the cash (difference is mostly minimal)

960/50 has no future.
either get the 1060 or one of the AMD Rx480 customs if they're cheaper at your location.

Ok so this is my build now:

gtx 1060 359.00 €
MSI B150 Pro Gaming 116.00 €
i5 6600 Skylake 254.00 €
Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 8Gb 43.00 €
Samsung 850 Evo 250GB 90.00 €
Toshiba 1 TB 50.00 €
Cooler Master Midi ATX CASE K380 56.00 €
Cooler Master 500W 53.00 €
Cooler Master HYPER 212 EVO 36.00 €

1,057.00 €

Do I need the SSD, Hyper 212 evo cooler?
What about the i5 4460?

P.S. I can also get a prebuilt PC with same specs as above just with LC power PSU and GTX 960 for 890eur...I'm tempted. Should I be?

you don't *need* the cooler. but I like aftermarket coolers as they are quieter and keep the chip cooler than the stock coolers that sound like an airplane.

Alright! Thank you a lot! So I think I"ll go with that build. Maybe I can find a cheaper B150 and decide between i5 6600 and 6500 (only like 15-20 eur difference).
The MOBO is the biggest mystery for me. for example ASRock B150M-HDS is only like 69eur and I dont see the difference to the MSI one...
Can you also maybe school me on that?

Thank you WildCard999 for your build. The only real price difference is the price of the GPU but I do not wanna wait 4-5 weeks for it.

concerning MoBos there are some differences:
the MSI can take up to 64GB RAM (the ASRock only 32)
the MSI has an additional fan header (3 total, ASRock only 2)
the MSI has more USB3 ports + more PCI 3.0 x1 lanes
als the MSI features a SATAe port (the ASRock doesn't)

the suggested board is actually a really good board I'd stick with it.

Ok I googled some of those things and I got a slight idea what those are :p (PCI 3.0 and SATAe)
Alright...seems like this is it then :) I just have to grow a pair and start ordering (and not look at my bank account until the next pay :p ).

Cheers mate! You helped me a lot!
