[SOLVED] Gaming PC build custom build - PC specialist - <£800

Hi all,

I'm going to get back into gaming after about a 15 year hiatus!

I was looking for a setup for around £800 with monitor, keyboard and mouse included, to use with lots of past games, and at least some current games on mid setting at least, a bit of future proofing to upgrade at a later date. A bit of an ask you may say, but 'PC specialist' seem to have reasonable good quality parts that are compatible with current games.

I was considering a laptop, then a set build, then was thinking longer term of investing for the future. Despite this, budget limits me; however I don't expect to play all games at highest settings - medium would suffice for some.

I may be able to use the AMD Ryzen 5 3300 Six Core CPU (3.6GHz-4.2GHz/36MB CACHE/AM4 for a similar price, which I believe is the better option

The biggest problem that I see is your choice of motherboard. While Asus makes great mobos in general - you really need to go with a B450 or X 570 series chipset. This is assuming that you may want to upgrade sometime in the future. The older chipsets will not be supported by AMD - so no chance of upgrading to Zen 3.

I would also suggest that you stick with a monitor that is 1920X1080 at a minimum of 120hz.

Serious gaming will require 16GB of DDR4 - and should be certified by motherboard manufacturer to work with your Ryzen processor.
