A friend of mine who builds Gaming PCs for a living, is willing to sell me a pc build he did for a guy that later backed out of the deal. He is going to sell it to me for below what he was planning to charge this other person. The only difference, is he's taking out the Geforce GTX 1050 TI that was installed into the system. But he will put in a GT 1030 the 2gb GDDR5 version. Before you start screaming, I know the 1030 is not a great graphics card, but it will do until I can replace it. So here are the specs.

i5+8400 cpu with 4gb DDR4 (1 stick of 4gb) memory, plus 16gb Intel Optane Memory (what's this?).
1tb Hard drive 7200rpm.
24x DVDRW
802.11ac Wireless and Bluetooth via a expansion card.
500 watt Bronze certified Power supply

He didn't tell me the specs of the motherboard.

So is this system worth $450? The memory seems to be a little light?

Solution
If it has a legit copy of Windows installed it looks like you are getting everything for market price. I wouldn't recommend you buy it because 1. The RAM is way too low and will need replaced. 2. The PSU is likely garbage and I wouldn't,pair it with a decent card later. For sure I would verify the authenticity of the windows. If it suits your needw then go ahead, but again I wouldn't recommend it.

neither did he tell you, the brand and model of the powersupply, the most important part and overlooked part.

the 16gb optane memory, is storage but 16gb is useless, just like the dvd driver...

220 dollar cpu, 20 dollar ram, 30 dollar storage, 30 dollar psu, 60 dollar motherboard?
and a 60 dollar gpu.
total: 420 +-

its a fair price.

but would i buy it? hell no. sure your buddy might break even, but I would buy a bit more expensive pc, with way better quality.

If he is willing to part with the CPU and motherboard, maybe the hard drive (and the GT1030 if you don't mind it, plenty for rocketleague, LoL, WoW, CS:GO, etc). Everything else is pretty sub-par.

An optane cache drive is used to make the hard drive faster, effectively. Basically a DIY hybrid drive. Pretty neat, but not worth it over the traditional boot SSD and separate hard drive.

I'd question the quality of that " 500 watt Bronze certified Power supply" that is included with the system. That will almost immediately need to be replaced if you want to install any serious GPU in that machine. Ask the seller about that part specifically. If you can't find any information on the unit included either don't buy it or immediately replace it with something better.
