I want to build a gaming pc with a budget of 500 to 635 euros (most likely 500) I have a lap top but it's not the same :)

CPU: Core i7 4500U
GPU: Amd Radeon 8500M 2 GB DDR5
RAM: 8 GB DDR3

I have 3 versions for the specs of my pc build but i cant decide what to buy so i need some help, I have a pc but mu gpu died and it's not that good

Specs current pc:
RAM: 4 gb DDR2
CPU: Amd Athlon 64 x2 5000+ 2.20 Ghz - oc to 2.36 Ghz
RIP GPU: Sapphire hd 5670 1 GB DDR5
PSU: 500w
MOBO: JW-A61PM-D2
MONITOR: Acer 1366x768

I'm planning to keep the hdd and the psu to save on money
Specs for the new builds are (the RAM, the case and the mobo are the same for all the builds):

RAM: 2 * 4 GB 1866 MHz Kingston CL10 HyperX Fury Black 65.30 euros

SSD: Kingston V300 Series 120GB 53.55 euros
V1 + RAM + MOBO + CASE = 633.77 euros

V2
CPU: Core i3-4160 107.99 euros
GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX960 G1 Gaming 2GB DDR5 239.34 euros
SSD: Kingston V300 Series 120GB 53.55 euros
V2 + RAM + MOBO + CASE = 580.79 euros

v3
CPU: Core i5-4460 180.17 euros
GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX960 G1 Gaming 2GB DDR5 239.34 euros
V3 + RAM + MOBO + CASE = 599.51 euros

I'm not going with a AMD gpu because they require more power so i need a stronger psu and i really can't expend the budget...

So which one should i chose? Should i upgrade the monitor and the storage with the standard gigabyte gtx 960 and the i3 or sould i go with a stronger gpu and with the old monitor or should i go with a quad core i5 and the stronger gpu but without the ssd and the full hd monitor?

I'm planning to use this pc only for gaming and movies (i can work on my laptop) and I really can't decide i don't know if the i3 will perform good compared to the i5 or if the standard 960 be as good as the g1 gaming...

Thanks in advance.

For the future, go with the four real cores of the i5. More and more games are demanding more than two real cores and, although Hyperthreading helps, the i5 will have a better future. An i3 runs as if it has about three practical cores, compared to the four of the i5.

You can get software to manually overclock you GPU yourself. I'm pretty sure you will get yourself a SSD later anyway, but the big step of CPU upgrade, won't happen.

Ok but how about the gpu? I will be playing it on my current monitor 1366x768 resolution should i go for the full hd and the cheaper gpu or stay with this one and buy the better gpu? Or if you have in mind any other gpu in mind fell free to throw any suggestions :)

What will you want if your monitor dies? 🙁 Plan for the future. I would be looking at a 1080p system. Your system will run only 1 NVidia GPU now and in the future. Alternate plans would be to spend a little more on a Z97 motherboard that can SLI, or use higher power-draw Radeon cards, like the R9 280 that can be Crossfired to handle future developments. This will require a PSU upgrade.

I'd go with a 1080p GPU and overclock it myself, and then do another rebuild in a couple of years, or find the money for a GTX 970 now.
