Gaming pc build wanting advice incase i've missed anything.

Not sure but I'm thinking of putting my old dvd drive in... it burns so I'm happy with that, I doubt I'll bother with a bluray since I'm no longer collecting dvds/bluray movies anymore and just have them as files nowadays.


Alright guys this is what I've worked out my next rig to be and was wondering if this would run fine? .. I already have a decent monitor/keyboard/headset/mouse/windows etc

My aim is to run things on high/ultra on all games if possible but without having to OC .. .Perhaps I should shop around for a OC version of the 760 gtx ... I will be getting these parts gradually in the upcoming months. Hoping by xmas i'll have it all. I have a budget of 40 a week and I'm starting now ... I got a dual core rig atm and getting a 750gtx 2gig ti to get me by until I get this build.

So in summary question is.

PSU enough? Anything looks out of the ordinary? Should this work fine?

What will the extra 2gig do? Will that help ultra settings at all? .... I readup somewhere that someone only hit over 2gig vram when using the skyrim mod. But I can't ignore that price anyway and it looks future proof that gtx card not that I totally understand it.

Unfortunately I can't buy it straight away... I've got some money saved, but need to do my tax and accumulate.. But it's really promising to know that it's not 2,000 dollars to build a highend gaming machine.

You know every computer I've had has been amd... Perhaps it's time to do intel but I've never had issues with Athlon... 400mhz and then I had a 2ghz and then my dual core...

Also why do you chose i5 and not a low end 7? Or is the price too much for what you get?

i5 intel cpu are so good ....you do not need to buy a i7 one for gaming i5 is already a killer cpu
the utility of the i7 cpu is only about video editing and cfd

i still waiting from amd to release a new fx series cpu...really not futur proof so far

Yeah ive read up that imm better off spending an extra 100 on gpu rather than cpu unless im playing huge multi games like bf4 constantly.. perhaps planetside 2.. well I got 200 saved up and tax return coming soon hoping that will b enuff for that 1k rig ... wont a 3 gig gpu be more futurr proofthan 2gig??

right now 2 gb vram is enough so far ...of course 3 gb of vram is more futur proof

Hmm seems the 280 graphics card is the better choice compared to the 760.... But if I do end up with more with my return the 770 looks tempting, not really too much of a price jump.

If I remember I'm thinking K version of a cpu is one that can be overclocked right?... How about a S version 4970s for example not sure exact number is right but hope u get the q

the ''S'' mean ...need less power consumption ....but the performance is lower then the non-s cpu

the ''K'' mean unlocked cpu .... that mean you can do overclocking by adjusting the voltage and frequency
the ''K'' series is not recommended if you do not know what you doing , you can stress to much the cpu

I'm not happy with picking that motherboard, Tbh the reviews on newegg scared me... actually even if they rate something 4 or 5 eggs and say something negative makes me worry lol... Sounds stupid I know but looking at what was said, this card could be great but it's a really hit or miss board.

Hmmm so is there a safer option board? Brands etc. certain specs to keep an eye out for. Ofc socket set has to match the cpu I know that much
